The Top 5 UK Water Parks

Are you looking for something a bit different to do this summer?

A water park is just the kind of splashing, good fun that is perfect for families of all ages and will keep the kids entertained during any season. There's lots of parks to choose from but they can differ dramatically in things like their size, amount of rides and activities and their cleanliness.

So, to help you figure out which ones you should head to here's our list of our favourite water parks in the UK.

Blue Lagoon Water Park - Pembrokeshire

Blue Lagoon is a fantastic indoor waterpark located in Wales that is open all year round so no matter what the weather, it's a great choice.  Its main attraction is the wave pool, with six different wave patterns and eight water geysers.  The more relaxed lazy river ride takes you on a slower journey, outside to the south-facing patio, accessing the outdoor bubble pool and onto the relaxing outdoor spa pool.  Water geysers and water cannons throughout the park provide extra splashes as you work your way round. For the real thrill seekers there are 4 flumes, the most intense being the Torpedo which is fast, steep and not for the faint-hearted!

Waterworld - Stoke On Trent

The UK’s No.1 tropical water park is based in the heart of the Midlands. Providing a range of 40 thrill seeking rides and activities including the Space Bowl, Super Flume and the Black Hole, there is something for everyone. This water park features a 4 lane family multi slide, Twister - a white knuckle ride, an assault course, rapids, toddler areas, an outdoor pool and much more!  Plus when you’re hungry from all that exertion, they have an excellent poolside restaurant to refuel at.  With so much to offer it is no wonder this indoor water park attracts over 400,000 visitors a year!

Splashdown - Poole

If you're in the south-west, Splashdown is really worth a visit.  This water park is home to 13 thrilling indoor and outdoor flume rides and 3 under 5's splash zones. There’s something for everyone here with the Screamer, Infinity or Black Thunder for the thrill seekers or the Red River Roller for those who like things a little slower.  Younger children can go on the starter flumes in Buccaneer Bay or in the shallow splash pool depending on how brave they’re feeling.  Splashdown water park is open all year as half the park is indoor and half outdoor.

Sandcastle Waterpark - Blackpool

The Sandcastle waterpark is one of Blackpool’s biggest tourist attractions and features over 18 slides and attractions including wave machines, a lazy river, white knuckle slides as well as burger and snack bars plus a game arcade.  For those 18+ there is an adult only spa area featuring heated loungers, a sauna and steam room, perfect to unwind in. And for something really special you can book their VIP Tiki Cabana - a private space within the waterpark which comes with a fridge stocked with beers, wines and soft drinks, your own TV and seating area, a private hot-tub and lunch for everyone delivered to your Cabana at a pre-arranged time. Located opposite the Pleasure Beach on the sea side of the promenade, the UK's largest waterpark is open nearly all year round so offers months of soaking wet fun!

Splash Landings - Alton Towers

Splash Landings is probably the best know waterpark in the UK, where you can find hundreds of interactive water features from lazy rivers to bubble pools to tree houses to water rollercoasters all in the tropical environment at Alton Towers sister park.  Head to the wonderful Wacky Waterworks tree house with over 70 interactive water features and have a splashtastic time with water cannons, buckets, pull ropes and water wheels!  Want to cool off?  Take a trip outside with Flash Floods where you can take on their outdoor slides before splashing down into the tropical pool.  There are loads of snack bars and restaurants to keep your busy families energy up and if you want to make a weekend of it there’s the Splash Landings Hotel that will make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean which overlooks the water park itself.
