About Arena

Arena have been designing and working with the top swimming pros for the last 30 years. The brand was initially inspired by Mark Spitz's 7 gold medal win in 1972. The brand was born soon after the event, and owner Horst Dassler worked alongside Spitz to create this unique brand that is still at the forefront of swimming technology today.

Since then the brand have gone from strength to strength and hav e been creating some of the most cutting edge designs in swimwear ever since. It's not just Spitz who is synonymous with the brand, Arena have been worn by pro swimmers ever since, and many of the top professionals are still competing in Arena swimwear.

Arena want just one thing from their swimsuits... better performance. With their unique design ideas Arena have managed to shave laps times by as much as 5 hundredths of a second. This may sound like nothing, but it could mean the difference between an Olympic gold and silver medal. As well as achieving a whopping 20% drag reduction on their swimwear, the compression technology enables swimmers to perform at their top speeds for even longer. With some seeing as much as a 24% increase.

Arena realised that it wasn't just the material that was important, as the way the garment is stitched also makes a huge difference to performance. This is why all Area swimwear is created using just one piece of fabric. Arena swimming costumes have no seems at the front, and the garments are 100% stitchless.

It's the SecondSkin range that Arena are probably most famous for. The brand have been making and developing this style of swim suit for many years now. Thousand of hours have gone into the design and testing of these suits to help boost swimmers performances in the pool.

Within the SecondSkin range you'll find the three main types of competition swimwear – PowerSkin ST, Powerskin XP and the Powerskin Evo for both male and female swimmers. These swimsuits are made from hi-tech fabrics that not only compress the body in the just the right places, but they help to substantially cut down on drag too. The materials create an ultra smooth outer surface that helps the swimmer glide through the water with ease. The unique stitch-free design as well as the Teflon coating adds again reduces the amount of drag, and helps to boost laps times.

But it's not just performance that the Arena are concerned with. They have also spent plenty of time working on their suits comfort too. The Lycra based material allows full freedom of movement and increased comfort levels. The materials are able to compress the muscles without adding restriction, allowing the muscles to work harder for longer. With an Arena swim suit you could find that you're able to cut as much as 20% off your drag. The outer layer of the suit has small riblets that trap the water. This allows the water to flow over water, which reduces the overall amount of drag in the pool. The light weight materials actually repel the liquid creating a water tight seal.
