After 10 years in Whitstable, TheSimplyGroup.com has relocated to the Eurocentre Estate off Whitstable Road, Faversham. The new facility has been purpose built to support the company's ecommerce business, which sends over one thousand orders a day to customers in the UK and globally. The new larger three storey warehouse will allow the business to continue its growth plans.
The Simply Group was founded in 1995 in Waterham, between Whitstable and Faversham on the Thanet Way, by Gerrard Dennis. Originally it was just a scuba dive training school but over the years has diversified to become an e-retailer.
The "Simply" brand currently incorporates seven e-commerce stores; Simply Scuba (scuba gear), Simply Snorkel (snorkelling store), Simply Swim (swimwear and accessories), Simply Beach (bikinis), Simply Hike (camping and outdoors), Simply Piste (ski wear) and Simply Sweat (fitness).
The business is owned by Gerrard and Jo Dennis, who are both from Faversham and were keen to move the business there to help support the town. Gerrard Dennis said "We hope moving the operation to Faversham will create local jobs, which in turn will help the town. It is essential local businesses support local people. We all know times are tough but good business will survive tough times, especially those with great staff, which we are fortunate to have. This move will allow us to continue our expansion with the launch of another e-commerce store in January next year: www.Simply-Undies.com "
The entire move was completed in a single weekend with no disruption to customers' orders The second phase of the relocation, the opening of a retail area at the front of the warehouse, has now also been completed and accepted its first customers on Saturday the 3rd December 2011.
The retail section is just a small part of the new warehouse but the business hopes that its new concept will be a success. Shoppers can browse a selection of the 25,000 stock lines in the store and, thanks to a bespoke touch screen shopping system the business' programmers have created, can request goods not on display but available from the on-site warehouse, without delay.
Gerrard Dennis (CEO) said "This is a massive investment in the future of the company and we now have the space we need to continue our double digit growth. Luckily our bank HSBC have been very supportive and in my experience keen to support good businesses. Even before our relocation to Faversham we have wanted to be part of the community, sponsoring both the Tennis Club and Swimming Club. We hope locals will support us too we need them."
He added : "Being a local company we can offer interesting careers with an exciting future. Already around a quarter of our forty staff live within walking distance of the new warehouse, which is good for both the economy and the environment."
