Wherever there are water sports, there is Arena swimwear. Arena believe that their brand’s real strength and one of the keys to its success is the ability to leverage its experience and competence in the field of top competition swimwear, at the same time investing on research and innovation.
The brand name Arena came into being following the 1972 Munich Olympics. Founded by Horst Dassler, Arena represented his vision after witnessing at close hand Mark Spitz's historic seven gold medals at that Summer Games' swim meet. Dassler confessed at the time that he was in awe of Spitz's achievements in the pool - he also set seven new world records - and he immediately started drawing up plans for a swimwear company that would be dedicated to aquatic sports and high performance swimming products.
Just one year later, in 1973, Arena broke new ground with an ultra-light fabric which weighed as little as 18 grams when made into swimming shorts. Designed to cling to a swimmer's body like a 'second skin', it was a technological breakthrough that made the brand's reputation among competition swimmers. At the start of the 1990s, Arena launched into the swimming world another technological advancement. This breakthrough was called AquaRacer and was designed to make swimmers faster in the water by helping them to glide. This new material worked because of its exceptionally smooth finish and outstanding fit which continued to offer plenty of freedom of movement.
These days, Arena continues to be a brand that top swimmers turn to when they are looking for a manufacturer that can help them get the best out of their performance in the pool. However, the brand also has a side range of products that are suited to the occasional swimmer and those who use a pool session, not for racing but for general fitness. Indeed, Arena now offers a good choice of swimming shorts, costumes and floatation aids that are designed for kids. If you are looking for a good brand, with an exceptionally racing pedigree, which can cater for the needs of advanced swimmers, those at an intermediate level and even learners, then you don't have to look much further.
A prime example of a quality product that is made by Arena would be their pool sandal. These are great for use in a poolside environment that can become slippery. Coaches, swimming teachers and regular competitive swimmers tend to favour them because of their cushioned soles as well as the comfort they offer. Another swimming accessory range that is popular is Arenas choice of towels. You can find 100 per cent cotton towels bearing the famous Arena logo which are great for drying off after your post-swim shower. They also offer exceptionally quick drying body dry towels, which are a favoured choice of divers and other swimmers who are in and out of the pool a lot.
Another area that Arena is well known for is their collection of training aids. These are ideal if you want to focus on a particular area of you technique in the pool. For example, they offer a choice of kickboards, devices that help you to build leg strength and to tone the lower body. Kickboards, like those made by Arena, also tend to improve a swimmer's balance as well as their body position relative to the surface.
