I really wanted to like these goggles

I really wanted to like these goggles. Not least because they are more expensive other equivalent masks/goggles. But sadly their faults far outweigh their only good points: That they look really cool and they are quite comfortable. I had planned to use them for swimming in bright sunlight (and to show off while on holiday) and indeed, the lenses worked well at preventing glare, but that's where the good points end. Firstly, there was a strange internal reflection across the top of my vision - independent of wherever I was and whatever the lighting. This was disturbing at first, but I was getting used to it. Or rather, I was instantly more concerned by the strange distortion of vision that takes place whenever immersed. Not a problem for open water swimming, but of major concern when in the pool: I really struggled to judge the correct distance to the end of the pool in order to tumble turn. Furthermore, after 20 minutes of swimming I was getting more concerned by the constant misting up. They are quite comfortable, but I had to keep the straps tight in order to keep the seal watertight - which might have a bearing on the following... Although being less than impressed by this point, I was still OK with them on the basis that I will only be using them for open water, bright sunlight swimming, and I can do something about the misting. However, I lost all goodwill towards these goggles when the small, irreplaceable plastic pin holding the strap to the frame broke, separating the strap from the frame. This is highest stress area on any goggle design and really should have been designed better. I don't know what the Head designers were thinking when they let a tiny plastic pin take the all the strap tension. I don't think I've had a pair of goggles that broke like this since the 1970's. Having your goggles break in the middle of a lengthy sea swim is a disaster. I note another reviewer here also had this pin come out, but was able to replace it. On mine, it broke completely. It's such a shame because I really wanted to like these goggles.

When I fist wore thes goggles to the pool I was very impressed. They are incredibly comfortable to wear and never fog up. However on my third time bringing them to the pool the strap came off. What had happened was the small plastic bar that secures the strap to the mask had come loose. It took me about ten minutes to fix and it seems fine now but I have to keep an eye on it in case it starts to work loose again. The service from SimplySwim was top grade and I would highly recommend them to any of my firends.
