Greatest Moments in the Paralympics

  With the Rio Paralympics now in full swing, let's take a look at some of the greatest moments in recent Paralympic history...

Rim Ju Song

Rim Ju Song was the first ever North Korean to participate in the Paralympic Games at London 2012. If that's not impressive enough, only one year prior he didn’t even know how to swim. Despite finishing last this is still a landmark achievement.  

Madison Elliott

Madison is youngest ever Australian to win a gold medal. At only 13 years old she won gold, silver and bronze at the 2012 games.  

Lu dong

Chinese swimmer Lu dong, who has no arms, broke a world record. In the 2012 Paralympic games she completed the 100m backstroke in 1 min 24.71 seconds to claim gold using only her legs.  

Tao Zheng

Another Paralympian with no arms who also broke a record is Chinese swimmer Tao Zheng. He broke the world record in the s6 100m backstroke in London 2012 with a time of just 1:13:56.  

Ellie Simmonds

At the age of only 13 Ellie Simmonds won two gold medals for Great Britain in the 2008 Beijing games. She then went on to win a further two gold medals in the London 2012 games and break two world records.   Which events have you been enjoying at this year's Paralympics?
