Annual Netherlands New Year Dip

Every year on New Years day, hundreds of swimmers from the Netherlands take the plunge and brave the cold weather for a dip in the sea at Scheveningen. This tradition was started in 1960 by a group of club swimmers who decided to start their new year with a dip in the sea. This tradition over time has grown. Everyone who takes part in this North Sea swim has the pleasure of a warm cup of soup when they return back to shore. Check out the video from the BBC here.
