The Dolfin Swimwear Company was founded in 1941 in Pennsylvania under the name Reading Airchutes Inc and they manufactured cargo parachutes for the US Air Force in a factory. The 500 employees that worked there were mainly the women whose husbands, sons and brother worked in the armed forces. The company supplied parachutes throughout WWII, receiving an 'E' award in recognition of its production and support of the war effort. The award consisted of a flag flown above the factory and a lapel pin badge for every employee. At the end of the war the company was reorganised under the name Jean Vernon Inc who was a former employee, given leave to enter the Air service and was a renowned hero. This newly named company became a manufacturer of silk and nylon lingerie, through their own catalogue and in department stores. This quickly evolved into nylon racing suites under the trade mark 'Dolfin'. Dolfin then also moved into track garments to capture that market as well. Today Dolfin still has a small in-house sewing floor which enables the company to fill in sizes to complete orders and private labels.
Their funky and bright colours are adored by swimmers all over the world and include their own Reliance fabric which offers 100% Polyester chlorine resistance and durability. The winners swimwear is fun and comfortable, containing Xtra Life Lycra with some great prints that will stay bright and vibrant even after countless swimming sessions and looks great on the blocks! All the Dolfin ladies swimsuits and 2 pieces are fully lined to give great coverage and the mens swimwear has a front lining and a drawstring. This is a swimming brand that is steeped in heritage from over 75 years and is now at the forefront of the swimming market.
