Lockdown Measures are Beginning to Ease.
Getting Back to the Pool is on the Horizon.
The pools are starting to open again and we cannot wait to get back in the water! Swimming isn’t just a great choice for your physical health but also your mental health, and after a year of being locked inside I think we could all do with working on both.
Since March 29th – Outdoor swimming pools and lidos plus, open water venues, have been allowed to reopen since March 29th. Although venues still have to restrict the number of people in the pool, online booking systems are in place to make outdoor swimming safe again.
After almost a year of on-and-off restrictions we have seen the UK public excited and relieved to finally be allowed back in the water. Even if that meant braving UK temperatures to do so.
From April 12th – Indoor pools can reopen for individual use or within household groups. Including club activities for under 18s.
Grab a new costume and book your slot with thousands of pools, gyms, leisure centres and spas opening their doors again to the public. With summer holidays fast approaching and the hope for warm beaches abroad, children can begin their swimming lessons again. Group swimming and clubs are being allowed to reopen giving under 18’s so much needed time to socialise and exercise after months of being off school and staying at home. It will be so good to see children having fun in the pool again, make sure they are kitted out with the right goggles and learn to swim equipment.
From 17th May – Organised indoor sports, including club activities and group activities, for over 18s will be allowed to reopen.
May 17th definitely feels like a huge step towards reality. Aqua aerobics and water sport clubs can once again be able to meet, practice and compete. After Covid-19 affecting a whole host of local and national swimming competitions, as well as the Olympics, we look forward to seeing our swimming super stars back competing.
Of course, all these dates could change. We encourage everyone to follow updates as they are released. Stay Safe and we will all be back in the water soon.
